Surprise Samu Omorodion twist as West Ham United make transfer push now
West Ham United target Samu Omorodion is the “surprising focus” of Atletico Madrid’s current affairs, according to Marca.
The Spanish news outlet reported via their print edition (page 25, 27 June) that several Premier League clubs are interested in the striker.
West Ham have already made an approach for Omorodion which was dismissed by Atletico.
Chelsea have also seen an offer rejected for the 20-year-old.
Will West Ham United sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid?
Singing Omorodion would be a big transfer gamble for the Hammers.
He is an unproven striker with no experience in English football and is also yet to celebrate his 21st birthday.
There is no guarantee that he would succeed at the London Stadium and Julen Lopetegui would perhaps therefore prefer the club target a more established goalscorer.
It is no secret that a new number nine is needed in East London, with this having been a troublesome position for the club over the past few years.
Lopetegui will be keen to get off to the best start possible with the Hammers and a new striker should therefore be a priority.

Succeeding in the Premier League is difficult unless you have a player who is consistently putting the ball in the back of the net, and there is nothing yet to suggest that Omorodion would be able to do that.
As a result, unless a reasonable fee can be agreed upon, the Hammers should probably look elsewhere.
In other West Ham news, the club are set to sign a Manchester City attacking starlet.
