Summerville granted permission for ‘bargain’ West Ham United transfer talks
West Ham United have taken the next step towards signing Crysencio Summerville as he is granted permission to hold talks with the club, according to HITC.
The report [31 July] details that the Hammers may also be set to secure the Dutchman for a “bargain” fee below the £30m initially demanded by Leeds United.
The Hammers are looking to hold their position at the front of the queue for Summerville, who has also been a target of London rivals Tottenham Hotspur [HITC, 5 April].
It was reported earlier on Wednesday that initial personal terms are not an issue [Fabrizio Romano, 31 July], and that the agreement is essentially in place between the Hammers and Summerville.
West Ham set for Summerville
It has been something of a saga that has been developing around Summerville since Leeds’ failure to secure an immediate return to the Premier League at the finale of last season.
The Irons have monitored the situation and have shown a brazen approach so far in the window, despite only securing three arrivals to date.
The “bargain” element of the deal with the Dutch youth international means his wage demands are not a problem and he can be eagerly added to Julen Lopetegui’s attacking options, possibly even on their pre-season tour in the USA [Dharmesh Sheth, 31 July].

Summerville has a firm eye on playing at the highest level once again whilst also earning regular game time, a blend that can arguably be best offered under Lopetegui – and can give him a start to a senior international career with the Netherlands.
Expect plenty more work to be done regarding both arrivals and exits until the end of August at the London Stadium.
