Sullivan personally intervenes in major Egan-Riley and West Ham transfer twist
David Sullivan has taken matters into his own hands to bring CJ Egan-Riley to West Ham United this summer.
ExWHUEmployee revealed that the Irons are interested in signing Egan-Riley on a free transfer from Burnley as early as 1 April, with an offer already lined up.
It later emerged that West Ham have also held talks with the centre-back over moving to the London Stadium this summer transfer window.
However, talkSPORT reported on Wednesday (14 May) that Egan-Riley is close to joining Strasbourg, with Chelsea’s sister club agreeing a five-year contract with the defender, much to West Ham’s disappointment.
Sullivan reaches out to Egan-Riley
West Ham, though, have no plans to give up their hopes of signing Egan-Riley, with Sullivan now personally intervening to get a deal across the line.
The Irons owner is working to convince the Burnley star and his mother, who is also his agent, to move to the London Stadium, according to Hammers News.
The news outlet reported via their website on Thursday (15 May) that West Ham reached out to them again on Wednesday to express their desire to match or better Strasbourg’s offer.

Graham Potter’s side are hopeful that their willingness to offer Egan-Riley a place in the starting line-up directly could prove to be a ‘trump card’.
While a move to Strasbourg could earn the Manchester-born player a transfer to Chelsea in the future, that may change if he flops in France.
Therefore, Egan-Riley has been advised to consider his future carefully ahead of his departure from Burnley.

West Ham keen to sign Egan-Riley
West Ham are also said to have told Egan-Riley that he could push for a place in the England squad if he plays regularly in the Premier League.
Therefore, the Hammers remain hopeful of getting a deal across the line for the centre-back this summer.
One source close to the East London club has reportedly claimed that West Ham remain firmly in the race to sign the Burnley ace, although the situation has been described as ‘fast-developing’.
