Stan Collymore overjoyed as Nottingham Forest consider move for West Ham ace

Stan Collymore is “genuinely excited” about the prospect of James Ward-Prowse swapping West Ham United for Nottingham Forest.

The Mirror reported on Monday (26 August) that Forest are eyeing a late move for Ward-Prowse before the window closes on 30 August.

The England international only arrived at the London Stadium last summer, but he has fallen out of favour since Julen Lopetegui arrived.

Responding to the transfer speculation on his personal X account [26 August], Collymore said: “Genuinely excited at the prospect of him playing for Forest.

“Set pieces a given but more importantly, at 29 he gets to play for a club where expectation ( whether met or not) comes with the shirt because of the history. Think he’d absolutely love it Trentside.”

West Ham should keep James Ward-Prowse

There was also plenty of excitement in East London a little over a year ago when Ward-Prowse was snapped up from relegated Southampton.

The Englishman started life at West Ham in fine style but did drop off, coinciding with a bad patch of form for the Hammers.

Still, seven goal and seven assists in 37 Premier League matches is pretty decent going for a central midfielder.

Ward-Prowse has played just 16 minutes across the Hammers’ first two games this season and has work to do to win over Lopetegui.

However, even if the 29-year-old is not a regular starter right now, he is still a valuable option to call upon from the substitutes’ bench.

It is fair enough that the board want to sell players to raise funds for others, but selling Ward-Prowse – unless for a nice profit – makes no sense.

West Ham’s loss would be Forest’s gain, but hopefully it will not come to that.
