Soungoutou Magassa takes next step towards West Ham exit with telling post-Southampton scenes

Soungoutou Magassa clearly wants out of West Ham United.

The midfielder only joined the Hammers last year, and had somewhat of a breakout under Nuno Espirito Santo.

The 22-year-old made 26 appearances in total for the Irons, and while not looking Premier League ready, showed great signs of promise for the future.

Many thought that a season in the Championship would work wonders for Magassa's development, but he is yet to play for Nuno this term.

The former France U23s star was on the bench for the 4-1 win over Southampton in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, failing to get some minutes once more.

Now, Magassa's head seems to be completely out of E20, especially if the post-game scenes at St. Mary's are anything to go by.

Jacob Steinberg has already confirmed that Magassa wants to leave West Ham on X, with interest in the defensive midfielder.

This may come as a surprise to some, given what he has yet to accomplish at the London Stadium, as other players remain professional about their needs and wants.

Regardless, West Ham enjoyed a much-need thumping over Southampton to advance through to the third round of the Carabao Cup on the South Coast, where many individuals had fine performances.

However, as highlighted by Roshane Thomas on X, Magassa was the only West Ham player to go straight down he tunnel after full-time, while other players showed their appreciation to the travelling fans.

Magassa is doing his best to burn bridges at Rush Green, and his character is starting to show through after being benched four times in a row.

The best thing for West Ham to do now is to cash in, with interest rife in the former Monaco man.

West Ham will want to try and recoup the £14million that they spent on Magassa last season.

Given that he now has Premier League experience under his belt, the club should have no problems in doing so.

Magassa is being linked with a move to Crystal Palace, which makes the way he is acting leave a sour taste in the mouth.

The Hammers never like selling to their London rivals, but in this instance, it may be for the best.
