Sky Sports: Wolves eye move for West Ham United flop Danny Ings amid ‘tight’ profit and sustainability situation
Wolves are interested in signing West Ham ace Danny Ings as they remain keen on signing a striker in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.
The news outlet reported on its live transfer tracker on Monday (29 January, 03:10pm) that a new forward is all the Hammers’ Premier League rivals can look to bring in as the deadline approaches given their “tight” profit and sustainability situation.
The 31-year-old is mentioned on their list of potential candidates alongside Southampton’s Che Adams and PSG’s Hugo Ekitike, with Chelsea pricing them out of a move for Armando Broja this month.
Pay the money
This isn’t a situation where West Ham should be looking to just give Ings away as he should still command a reasonable transfer fee.
Although his time at the club has been utterly miserable since making the switch from Aston Villa in January 2023, he could still be a decent signing for other Premier League sides.
The Englishman actually had one of his best games for the Hammers in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United on 21 January, where he won a second-half penalty.
If he can perform at that level moving forward, then there is no reason why he shouldn’t have a future at the London Stadium, but there will be plenty of scepticism amongst the Irons fans about whether or not that is possible.
It will be interesting to see what happens over the next few days, but it looks as though he could be staying with us for the time being unless a decent offer comes in.
