Sky Sports: West Ham United tracking move for Al Ittihad forward Jota
West Ham are keeping an eye on the situation of Al Ittihad forward Jota in the January transfer window, according to Sky Sports.
The news outlet reported on its live transfer tracker on Monday (15 January, 03:00pm) that the Hammers are weighing up whether or not to go into the market this month due to their current injuries and absences.
It added that any potential deal for the 24-year-old Portuguese could be “problematic” due to his £200,000 a week wages with the Saudi club.

Risky
It feels unlikely that West Ham would be willing to pay Jota’s full salary because that would break the current wage structure at the club.
While the forward put in a number of excellent performances for Celtic before making the £25million switch to Al Ittihad last summer, he’s unproven at the highest level.
His current situation in the Middle East is quite bizarre after he wasn’t included in his club’s squad for the Saudi Pro League season.

That is why the Portuguese is seemingly looking for a way out of the country, but so far no one has decided to take a punt on him during this window.
While we definitely do need to strengthen in the attacking areas, perhaps there are better deals out there that we should be looking to pursue instead.
In other West Ham news, a journalist has shared the likelihood of two player exits at the London Stadium in January.
