Sky Sports: West Ham making good progress in Nikola Milenkovic deal, club are confident
West Ham are confident of signing Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic after making advancements on his signature, according to Sky Sports.
In a video relayed by Football Daily on their Twitter account, Sky Sports presenter Tom White has delivered an exciting update for Hammers on Monday afternoon [09/08/21].
He said: “We have actually got some breaking transfer news regarding West Ham.

“We are told, in the last few seconds, that they are edging closer to a deal for Fiorentina centre back Nikola Milenkovic
“The fee is expected to be £14million. A lot of elements of this deal are still to be sorted but West Ham are hopeful they can complete the deal.”
He added: “West Ham are confident they will get that deal sorted for £14million.”
On the brink
Surely this deal doesn’t break down now, at least for the sake of supporters who have gone through the mill this summer with the lack of transfer activity at the London Stadium.
So far, only Alphone Areola has been newly signed for the first team this summer, with Craig Dawson”s loan from Watford also becoming permanent.
Despite Dawson extending his stay in east London, David Moyes has appeared set on signing a central defender as a matter of priority after Fabian Balbuena left the Irons short following his release earlier this summer.
But Milenkovic wouldn’t just be coming in to play second fiddle – at the money it looks like we’re prepared to play, he will probably slot straight into the starting XI once he is in the building, and it remains to be seen who will partner him.
Angelo Ogbonna and Dawson will feel they did enough last year to warrant a starting spot, while Issa Diop is young enough to make significant improvements in his game and become a serious option for Moyes.
In other West Ham news, Roshane Thomas has delivered an update on this Euros star after a Friday report of an Irons bid.
