Sky Sports share Niclas Fullkrug update in ‘best news’ for West Ham United fans
Michael Bridge has shared “the best news” for West Ham United when it comes to the club’s interest in Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on Tuesday (30 July, 17:23), the journalist reported that the striker is open to a move to London Stadium.
The Hammers have identified bringing in a new striker as a top priority before the 30 August cut-off, and to date have been frustrated in their pursuit of Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran [Sky Sports, 30 July].
Bridge said: “West Ham are discussing the conditions of a deal here. What we do know is that West Ham really want a striker.
“Julen Lopetegui wants this new striker for the new season. Now [Fullkrug] is open to the move, which is always the best news for fans.
“Personal terms are not expected to be an issue. We know West Ham want that striker in before the season starts.”
West Ham switch attention to Niclas Fullkrug
The East London club have set their sights on Fullkrug as a potential new striker. It’s clear that Hammers boss Lopetegui sees a top-notch forward as essential to his plans for next season.
With only Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, both of whom are past their prime, it’s no surprise Lopetegui is keen on bolstering his attack.
Fullkrug, who’s currently at Borussia Dortmund, brings considerable experience from his time at Werder Bremen and indeed BVB.
Over his career, he’s scored 172 goals in 438 games, which isn’t a bad record to have. However, at 31, he’s not exactly a spring chicken.

The Premier League is notoriously tough, and while Fullkrug has been solid in the Bundesliga, he might lack the pace and dynamism needed to thrive – generally speaking – in England.
Instead of investing in a player nearing the end of his career, it might be wiser for the Hammers to target younger players like Ivan Toney, Jhon Duran or Jonathan David.
In other West Ham news, Karren Brady has been sent a message after a behind-the-scenes decision was made at the London Stadium.
