West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse has been spotted at City Ground after completing his medical at Nottingham Forest, according to Sky Sports.

The news broadcaster has shared footage of the England international arriving at Forest's stadium as he's set to move to the Premier League side.

The 29-year-old will move to Forest on a season-long loan with no option to buy.

West Ham unlikely to have benefited from James Ward-Prowse staying

Despite Ward-Prowse's impressive goal contributions and leadership, there's a belief that his style might not perfectly align with the evolving tactical demands at the Hammers, particularly if the club is looking to transition towards a more dynamic midfield presence.

The 29-year-old, while excellent at set-pieces, might be somewhat limited in build-up play and defensive duties, areas where the club have looked for improvements.

Loaning him out to a competitor like Forest, while seemingly counterintuitive, could serve as a strategic move to assess his value in a different environment, potentially increasing his market price or proving his indispensability, thus affecting future transfer negotiations or his role upon return.

Moreover, this move could free up resources and squad space for the Hammers to explore other options that might better fit their long-term vision, especially if there's an internal push towards a different midfield dynamic.

It remains to be seen how he fares on loan and whether or not the Hammers can get something from his sale.
