Sky Sports share brand new West Ham United transfer update on Mohammed Kudus

West Ham did not expect their £36million bid for Mohammed Kudus to be rejected, amid feeling the Dutch club has “moved the goalposts”, according to a source at Sky Sports.

The news outlet shared via their Transfer Centre website [23 August, 14:02], with a source informing them of West Ham’s surprise that their offer was rejected, as the bid was the highest any club have made for Kudus in this window.

Brighton had reportedly had a bid accepted for Kudus earlier in the transfer window, which West Ham’s offer appears to have surpassed, but the East London club saw their bid turned down.

Changes are to be expected

As the window draws closer to its end, clubs are bound to want more money for their key players, as it becomes more difficult by the day to find adequate replacements should they leave. This will be the reason West Ham had their bid turned down.

It is not a surprise to see the terms of transfer deals change as time goes on – especially between different clubs, with levels of interest and confidence in keeping the subject player reaching varying levels with each day that passes.

It is understandable that the East London club would be surprised at a bid higher than previous offers would be turned down, but Ajax have now made their price clear, and it remains in the hands of the Hammers if they wish to meet that valuation.

Kudus’ talent and stature in the game are also likely to be factored into the Dutch club’s decision-making. He scored for them recently and is also attracting interest from other clubs – all additional factors in driving his price higher.
