West Ham United: Sky Sports journalist shares fresh Declan Rice update as Bayern Munich transfer rumours surface
West Ham United skipper Declan Rice is not a transfer target for Bayern Munich and has not met with them for discussions, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Hammers star is expected to leave the club at the end of the season with Chelsea and Arsenal believed to be the frontrunners for his signature in a deal that the club are hopeful will hit the £100m mark.
But rumours surfaced that Bayern Munich could have an interest in the 24-year-old following the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as manager, but Sky Sports Germany reporter Plettenberg has shared an update and shut the rumours down.
“News Rice: Been told there was no meeting between his management/dad and FC Bayern last week,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (30 March).
“He’s no transfer target at this stage. Same as with Kovacic: Too expensive and too many players on his position.”
No shock
Rice is going to be one of the most expensive transfers of the summer window wherever he ends up, and that rules a lot of clubs out of the running immediately.
Clubs like Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich would surely love to have Rice in their side because of the qualities he has and the fact he would immediately improve them, but they just can’t afford him.

That makes it incredibly likely that it will be another Premier League side to sign Rice, much to the hatred of West Ham fans, but it’s also the reason why the price will be so high.
Arsenal and Chelsea will be praying to the heavens that we are relegated so that they have the chance to get him for cheaper, but if we are a Premier League side beyond this season then there is no chance of a cut-price deal.
It will be incredibly hard to see Rice go, and all West Ham fans would love to see him go abroad so we don’t have to see him every week tearing it up for a rival, but that club won’t be Bayern.
