Sky Sports Germany shares new update on West Ham Untied bid for Mohammed Kudus, 100% deal pending

West Ham are still working on securing a total verbal agreement with midfielder Mohammed Kudus regarding a move to the London Stadium, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist tweeted (18 August) that Ajax and West Ham have not yet negotiated between themselves regarding Kudus and no figures have been exchanged for the Ghana international.

Plettenberg previously reported (17 August) that Ajax would demand more than £34.1million for Kudus.

More to be done

Personal terms are often the first hurdle a club must jump before being well on the way to making a signing.

Kudus has proved himself as a very good player. His display in the World Cup 2022 when he scored twice for Ghana in a 3-2 victory over South Korea announced him to the world stage.

But plenty of people knew the name Kudus before his shining international moment due to his pivotal role in the heart of Eric ten Hag’s Ajax team which helped the Dutch side lift two Eredivisie trophies since he joined in 2020.

However, with encouraging reports popping up, including Fabrizio Romano confirming a new round of talks on Friday (18 August), West Ham fans may be getting excited over yet another quality midfield recruit.

West Ham

The Hammers look to start a raid on the Amsterdam club after sealing a deal for Edson Alvarez, while the Premier League-proven James Ward-Prowse will add plenty of stability and set-piece threat.

Replacing Declan Rice was never going to be easy, but three brilliant signings will fill the hole, should they perform as expected.

The reported £34.1million looks like a steal too. At just 23 years old, Kudus still have plenty of time to develop his game and become accustomed to the Premier League. His European experience too could prove vital in the Hammers’ Europa League efforts.

Following a period of fear and anxiety at the London Stadium, a fresh wave of optimism has now blessed Hammers fans. But there are still plenty of obstacles before Kudus becomes a Hammer.

In other West Ham news, the Irons reportedly had a £40million bid rejected for a Premier League striker.
