Sky Sports Germany share new Lucas Paqueta exit twist at West Ham United

West Ham are demanding that Manchester City pay more than £85million to sign midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist tweeted on 10 August that the Hammers haven’t said the Brazilian international is not for sale, but that they turned down an initial offer worth £60million.

He said the Irons are seeking more than £85million to consider selling the 25-year-old despite him reportedly being keen on a move to the Premier League champions.

Tricky

This is an extremely tricky situation for the Hammers to navigate as they look to try and keep hold of Paqueta this summer.

The fact of the matter is, though, if Man City do come back with an offer close to the club’s valuation, then it will be very hard to turn down.

There is no doubt that he is an exceptional talent on his day, but that is an awful lot of money for a player that put in some high-quality performances last season despite not always being entirely convincing.

West Ham

The Irons paid a club-record £51million to sign him from Lyon last summer, so any deal is going to mark a huge profit that could be spent on strengthening a couple of areas of the squad.

It’s also important to note that he does reportedly want to make the move to the Etihad Stadium and the last thing we want is to keep hold of a player that doesn’t want to truly be here.

Everyone has their price and if his valuation is reached, you can’t blame the club for taking it.
