Sheffield United are targeting a loan move for West Ham youngster Divin Mubama ahead of the summer transfer window, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist reported via his official Patreon [7 April] that the Hammers are contemplating allowing the 19-year-old forward to leave on loan next season once he signs a new contract at the London Stadium.

It is understood that the Blades' new chief scout, Jamie Hoyland, has previously worked with West Ham, which could help them to strike a deal with the London side.

The Hammers will be disappointed by Mubama's 2023/34 season, as it looked like he could finally make a proper breakthrough to David Moyes' senior team.

Despite this, the dynamic forward has only made 18 appearances since August 2022 and has yet to start a single Premier League match this season, coming on as a substitute on five occasions.

His last start came against Bristol City during an FA Cup draw in January, having replaced Lucas Paqueta who left the field through injury just 14 minutes into the match.

Since this moment, Mubama has only amassed 10 minutes of football. If West Ham are serious about developing their young talent, a loan move is crucial for next season.

United are set to be playing Championship football, with relegation from the Premier League all but confirmed, which could allow Mubama to spread his wings and showcase his skills and talent in a difficult league.

The second tier of English football has been creating many young talents in recent seasons, with the likes of Leeds United's Archie Gray, Sunderland's Jack Clarke, and Norwich City's Jonathan Rowe emerging, to name just a few.

Hammers fans will be hoping that a loan move finally brings the best out of the young prospect, who has been given limited chances at the London Stadium so far.
