Sevilla and West Ham have agreed to continue their negotiations over a potential deal for Pablo Fornals, with contact between the clubs permanent since last summer, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish news outlet reported on 28 December that the financial situation at Sevilla means they were forced to wait after they had initially intended on signing the midfielder in the summer.

West Ham opted to extend Fornals' contract for a further year, with the deal initially set to expire in the summer, meaning a free transfer would now be off the table.

The move looks inevitable

Speculation has been rife for months about Fornals' future at West Ham after he fell out of favour with David Moyes thanks to the form and prominence of Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Thomas Soucek in the first-team setup.

With Sevilla circling, and seemingly in constant communication with the Hammers, that seems his most likely destination should a deal materialise, and it appears based on the report like both clubs are willing to make the deal happen.

A lack of game time and some disappointing displays in East London make the deal look more and more inevitable each week, and it now feels like a matter of if rather than when Fornals will depart the London Stadium.

West Ham

Fornals has started just two Premier League games so far this season, so a move away from West Ham would suit him just as much as it would suit the interested clubs, and if the Hammers can secure a fee for his services, it may be the best option for all involved.
