Sergej Jakirovic takes stand as West Ham United line up late Ryan Giles transfer

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has made his feelings clear over Ryan Giles after late interest from West Ham.

The Hammers are in need of another left-back following El Hadji Malick Diouf's move to Brentford.

Currently, Nuno Espirito Santo has just Ollie Scarles and Ezra Mayers who could be deployed in that role.

With just a few days left of the window, the Irons do not have long left to sort their squad issues.

And whether a move for Giles could be completed late in the window has now emerged.

Is Ryan Giles available to buy for West Ham?

West Ham will have to divert their attentions elsewhere in the left-back market as they looked for a late swoop for Giles.

According to Alex Crook for talkSPORT, while it seemed that Hull were open to selling Giles, with an agreement believed to have been made with Burnley, Jakirovic has stepped in.

The Bosnian manager has made his feelings known late into the window that he wants Giles to remain at the MKM Stadium.

While it was Burnley that were pushing for a move, Wolves and West Ham were also interested in signing the Premier League defender.

Now, that looks to be out of the question, and a pivot will have to be made to sort out the lack of depth in defence.

Nuno Espirito Santo has not been handed the keys to success so far

Nuno has not started this season well and frankly the Hammers should have picked up better results than they have so far.

But, it does have to be said that business in E20 has only began to pick up steam over the last few weeks.

The first signing of the summer, Joel Veltman, was not officially confirmed until 6 August with the Irons playing their first competitive game two days later against Portsmouth in the Carabao Cup.

Pressure is building on the Portuguese manager, but there should at least be patience until we see what the rest of the remainder of the window brings.

Then, a more clear assessment can be made if Nuno has been given the tools for promotion.
