Scott Minto delivers verdict on West Ham top-four chances

West Ham are flying high at the moment under David Moyes.

The Hammers jumped to third in the Premier League after beating Liverpool 3-2 on Sunday at the London Stadium.

The Hammers have also reached the knock-out rounds of the Europa League and are in the quarterfinals of the Carabao Cup as well.

Scott Minto has suggested on talkSPORT that three teams will fight for the Premier League title. He thinks Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool will compete for the title, even though the Reds are fourth in the table.

He adds that the fourth spot in the league is up for grabs, and West Ham have a fantastic chance of sealing it this time.

“I think the fourth place is up for grabs. There’s three teams going for the title and I do include Liverpool in that, even though they are fourth. It goes to show how well West Ham are doing. That 4th place is up for grabs. Big time,” said Minto to talkSPORT.

“I don’t see Arsenal, even though they are fifth. Look at the team in 9th – Spurs. I wouldn’t rule them out as crazy as it sounds. I think West Ham have a fantastic chance of finishing their best ever Premier League finish by finishing in top four. That would be amazing considering what Moyes has done.”

Tough competition

West Ham are enjoying a rich vein of form at the moment, and Moyes deserves a lot of credit for this.

However, it is a long race and there can be lots of twists and turns. Liverpool, with their squad depth, are likely to challenge for the title alongside Man City and Chelsea.

West Ham should aim for the fourth spot in the league, but there is a big competition. Arsenal have picked up their form recently while Antonio Conte can transform Spurs into a major force.

We need to maintain our consistency. Considering the fact that we will be playing in the Europa League knockout stages and also in the Carabao Cup, and should we progress, our squad depth will be severely tested.

The Hammers need to invest in January and bring in some good players in several departments.

We need to sign a striker and a central defender, following the injury of Angelo Ogbonna. The fourth spot is definitely up for grabs.
