Roma to make ‘last call’ to West Ham United amid links to boyhood fan Gianluca Scamacca
Roma are set to make a “last call” to West Ham as they look to try and strike a deal for exit-linked forward Gianluca Scamacca, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper reported on 17 July that Roma are pushing for a loan deal with an option-to-buy clause for the 24-year-old, but that the Hammers have raised a wall to prevent any deal from happening.
It said part of Scamacca’s thoughts are “in his homeland” while he’s on a pre-season tour in Australia with the rest of the West Ham squad, adding that his “long-awaited opportunity” to return to Rome is slowly getting out of hand unless a long-awaited accelerator arrives.

Don’t pick up
The feeling coming out of West Ham over the past few days has been that they have no intention of allowing the Italian international to move on this summer.
The club paid a lot of money to get him through the door in a near £36million deal from Sassuolo last year and will feel they have got nowhere near value for what they paid yet.
David Moyes has made it clear in the opening two games of pre-season that he wants to give Scamacca another chance to prove he is the man to lead the line for the Hammers next season after he started both matches.

The simple solution for the club’s hierarchy is to hold firm and not enter any negotiations with Roma or any other interested party unless the player makes it clear he wants to leave.
It seems as though Roma are growing tired of pursuing Scamacca and, with the Gazzetta report suggesting talks are moving forward with Alvaro Morata’s agent, the West Ham striker looks likely to be staying at the London Stadium.
In other West Ham news, a move to East London could be on the cards for an England international following a development at his club.
