Roma ready offer for West Ham United star Gianluca Scamacca as transfer fee emerges

Roma are ready to make an offer to West Ham to sign forward Gianluca Scamacca, according to CalcioMercato.

The Italy international has been the subject of much speculation so far this summer, with the Serie A giants heavily linked with a move for the striker as they look to replace the injured Tammy Abraham.

The Italian media outlet reported on 26 July that Roma are now ready to firm up that interest by offering up to £4.3million to take him on loan and a clause that will allow them to buy him for £18.9million subject to the club reaching the Champions League or him making a certain number of appearances.

Taking advantage

The Serie A side are clearly looking to take advantage of Scamacca’s current situation at West Ham, with the forward seemingly desperate to complete a move to his boyhood club.

He has admitted in recent weeks that it would be his “dream” to play for Roma under Jose Mourinho and it looks as though the Italian side are doing everything they can to ensure that happens.

The deal they are offering is, quite frankly, nowhere near enough after the Hammers forked out £35.5million to sign him from Sassuolo last summer and they are yet to reap any of the rewards of that transfer after he scored just three Premier League goals last season.

The fact that it is initially just a loan and Roma hold the right as to whether they want to sign him permanently or not isn’t an attractive proposal either as, if he doesn’t do well, they can just send him back to East London.

If we are going to consider letting him leave this summer, we need to either be getting more cash upfront or ensure there is an obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal.
