Pundit tells West Ham United to sell 4 or 5 first-team aces that ‘aren’t good enough’
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
David Moyes should be looking to sell four or five West Ham players this summer because they aren’t good enough, according to Frank McAvennie.
The Hammers have brought in Nayef Aguerd in defence and made Alphonse Areola’s loan move from PSG permanent so far this summer, as they look to improve on an excellent campaign in 2022/23.
But any arrivals are likely to be offset by departures, and former striker McAvennie believes the players that couldn’t get into the side last year weren’t able to because they’re not good enough and the club should look to move them on.

“I think David’s got to get rid of four or five,” he told West Ham Zone.
“Four or five that have got to go. There’s talk about [Kral] whose away. It’s one of them. The bottom line is he’s got players there that aren’t good enough to come in and do a job.
“Mark Noble’s contract is up. I guarantee there will be offers on the table for him, and there’ll be offers from West Ham for him to do his coaching there. You can’t beat players like that about the place.
“But yeah there’s a few. I don’t know them because they’ve not played enough, but the fans who go every week will say they’re not.”

Alex Kral has already returned to Spartak Moscow after his poor loan spell, but the club have currently got spaces in the squad for new signings.
The likes of Said Benrahma, Issa Diop and Tomas Soucek reportedly are allowed to leave the club if they receive suitable offers, but there’s no point selling until replacements are acquired first so there is still work to be done at the London Stadium this summer.
