Potter wants West Ham to sign Karim Konate in major summer swoop

Graham Potter is now identifying targets for West Ham’s summer rebuild, with Karim Konate seen as a potential signing.

The summer transfer window is going to be difficult to navigate for West Ham.

It is now well known that the Hammers will have to sell to buy this summer or they risk breaching PSR.

With sales therefore expected, Potter is going to have to be smart in the window if he is to improve the squad.

As a result, the manager wants West Ham to sign Konate from Red Bull Salzburg, with the attacker possessing plenty of potential.

Konate ‘a key target’ for West Ham’s summer rebuild

West Ham’s attacker is likely to undergo plenty of changes over the next few months. Mohammed Kudus is one of many players expected to leave, with Arsenal now pursuing the winger.

Jarrod Bowen’s future is also unclear, with Liverpool showing interest. As a result, potential reinforcements in attack have been shortlisted.

According to The West Ham Way (7 May), Konate has been identified as a potential “key target” and is wanted by Potter.

The 21-year-old has netted eight goals in all competitions so far this season for the Austrian side, including two in the Champions League.

Despite his age, he has also been capped 19 times for the Ivory Coast and has netted twice for his country.

Speaking on the potential transfer, the ExWHUEmployee said: “One player to keep an eye on is Karim Konaté of RB Salzburg.

“He’s a player that is admired by Graham Potter and one that the club could well look to ramp up interest with a move this summer as part of the significant rebuild.”

Konate would be a sensible signing for West Ham

Given West Ham’s current financial restrictions, Konate is exactly the type of player that the London club should be looking at.

While it is unknown how much he would cost, it is unlikely that the Austrian side would demand a big fee for the attacker.

The 21-year-old would no doubt be a low-risk signing, and he has plenty of potential to become a star.

The fact that he has scored two goals in the Champions League this season shows that he can perform on the biggest stage and could clearly adapt to the Premier League

Hopefully, West Ham go in for the attacker in the summer and get the signing over the line.
