Potter intervenes as ‘West Ham laugh off Chelsea bid’ for Kudus transfer

Chelsea have attempted to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United this transfer window.

The Hammers signed the 24-year-old from Ajax in 2023 and enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign in the Premier League.

Graham Potter is now open to Kudus’ sale, though, with the Irons struggling financially after an underwhelming season.

Chelsea have shown interest in Ghana international, but their bid to sign the winger have been laughed off at the London Stadium.

West Ham reject swap deal for Kudus transfer after Chelsea offer as Potter wants cash

Potter prefers a straightforward cash deal for Kudus amid interest from Chelsea, according to CaughtOffside.

The news outlet reports (3 July) that Chelsea explored a swap deal to sign the 24-year-old forward, offering Carney Chukwuemeka or Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with cash, but the suggestion has been discarded at the London Stadium.

It’s been claimed that Tottenham, Newcastle United and Liverpool also have the Ghanaian winger on their radar as the Hammers look to generate significant funds.

The former Ajax forward’s future seems to be away from the East London club, and his situation will certainly be one to keep an eye on.

Potter right to cash in on Kudus at London Stadium

Kudus hasn’t been at his best at the London Stadium in recent months, and it feels like the right time for the Hammers to cash in on him.

With the Irons in need of a major squad overhaul this summer, a major sale will arguably be needed due to the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Jarrod Bowen was a reliable outlet for Potter last season, and with Lucas Paqueta’s situation uncertain, the Ghana international seems like the right candidate to sell.

West Ham spent a lot of money backing Julen Lopetegui last summer, but not many of the new signings delivered in the previous campaign.

Despite some defensive frailties, the Hammers have decent options at the back, but the same can’t be said about their attack.

Niclas Fullkrug’s consistent issues were frustrating, and the Irons undoubtedly need a replacement for the German striker despite some decent displays.

Signing new attackers will surely need a massive investment from David Sullivan this summer, and it makes sense to get the most out of Kudus’ sale.
