Paris Saint-Germain want to sell Thilo Kehrer this week, West Ham United pushing – Fabrizio Romano

Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to sell Thilo Kehrer this week with West Ham United pushing to get a deal done, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Hammers are in talks with the French champions over a deal for the German international and have already had an opening offer rejected.

With the clubs not too far off in their valuations and David Moyes desperate for new additions to strengthen the squad after opening the season with two defeats, there is hope a deal can be closed quickly.

Talks between the clubs are continuing and Kehrer is said to be open to the move, with West Ham happy that he can cover at both centre back and left back.

It’s believed that PSG want £16m to allow the 25-year-old defender to leave the club and West Ham are willing to meet that price.

Ideal

After two consecutive defeats in the Premier League to Manchester City and then Nottingham Forest, it couldn’t have been a worse start to the season.

But with Moyes down to just four defensive players currently and being forced to use Ben Johnson as a centre-back, it’s couldn’t have been expected to go much differently.

West Ham

With Issa Diop forcing a move out to Fulham, the team is in desperate need for defensive reinforcements and Kehrer has emerged as the priority option because of his versatility and top level experience.

With 20 caps for the German national team plus plenty of experience in the Champions League and Ligue 1, he would be able to slot in seamlessly and make a real impact on helping the team be better defensively.

With both teams hopeful of getting a deal done ASAP, there’s a good chance that he’s available for the next Premier League game against Brighton on Sunday at the London Stadium.
