Paqueta ‘to take major pay cut’ to seal West Ham United exit by 14 June

Lucas Paqueta is seemingly edging closer toward the exit door at West Ham United this summer.

The 27-year-old has been a key player for the Hammers during his time at the club, but his spell might be coming to an end after this season.

The Brazil international is under contract with the Premier League side until 2027, but he appears set to move on before that.

Paqueta has featured regularly this season under both managers, and losing his attacking quality will be a blow for Graham Potter moving forward, as he will be difficult to replace.

Paqueta pushing for West Ham exit

According to Fabricio Lopes (20 April), Flamengo are set to make a move to sign the West Ham star during the summer transfer window.

Paqueta is set to agree to a lower salary in a bid to make the transfer happen as he wants to return to Brazil moving forward.

Filipe Luis believes that Paqueta would be a great addition to his squad moving forward, which is why he’s pushing to make the transfer happen as soon as possible.

Flamengo will be taking part in the FIFA Club World Cup tournament this summer, which will commence on 14 June, and the Brazil side would like to get him onboard before that takes place.

At the moment, the initial plan is to have Paqueta on loan moving forward, with the potential to sign him permanently afterward.

Lucas Paqueta’s trial is postponed

Paqueta’s future in football still remains in the balance due to his trial for being involved in gambling, which is a dark cloud that hangs over his head at the moment.

His trial has been postponed once again lately, meaning a final decision on any move to Europa will have to take place after June.

That has alerted Flamengo to the possibility of being able to sign him, as the Irons would be willing to do business to sell him moving forward, as they aim to cash in.

Paqueta is a proven commodity in the Premier League, and that is something that Flamengo wants to tap into, with his quality likely thriving in Brazil.
