Pablo had a nightmarish debut campaign for West Ham United, but he may be handed a chance to redeem himself in the Championship.

The Hammers threw everything they had at the winter transfer window in an attempt to stay in the Premier League, but they still fell short in the end.

Among those who made the move were Taty Castellanos, who impressed, and Pablo, who failed to do so, with just one goal involvement in his 17 appearances.

In turn, that led to a lot of confusion over the Irons' decision to pay such a substantial fee for him.

Which again led to rumours connecting him with an exit from the London Stadium ahead of the summer window.

On the face of it, very few would have argued against it if it were to happen, but the latest news, and surprising news at that, from Wolves, may change that.

That news, described as "harsh" by John Percy, in itself will mean nothing for West Ham or for Pablo, but the news of his expected replacement certainly will.

That is because it has been widely reported that Cesar Peixoto will be the man to to take over from him.

His name will not raise any eyebrows for West Ham supporters, but for Pablo it will, due to the fact that he was his manager at Gil Vicente prior to his Premier League switch.

Pablo managed 10 goals in 14 appearances under Peixoto last season before joining West Ham.

Pablo transfer requires 'investigation' as West Ham questions raised

How could Wolves developments impact Pablo?

The Brazilian will have almost certainly had his sights set on an exit from English football, but that may not be the case now.

With his former manager now set to join him in the Championship, he may well want to stay and prove that he has what it takes to be a success in this country.

He will have to impress in pre-season to ensure that he gets his chance, but that may just be enough to persuade him to continue his career with the Hammers.

Only time will tell if that will happen, but West Ham fans will need more than talk to prove that he was a worthwhile signing at this stage.
