OGC Nice confirm major details about Jean-Clair Todibo loan at West Ham United

West Ham have a compulsory purchase option for Jean Clair-Todibo after his loan ends, OGC Nice have confirmed.

The Ligue 1 outfit shared on their official website on 10 August that the Hammers have signed the 24-year-old on an initial loan.

After this, the Irons have to sign the Frenchman on a permanent deal with Nice retaining a sell-on clause for any future transfers away from the London Stadium.

Julen Lopetegui is quietly putting together a great squad ahead of his first season in charge of the Irons with Todibo being the latest addition.

It is clear that the Spaniard wanted to improve the defence ahead of his side’s opener against Aston Villa and he has done exactly that.

This began with the signing of Max Kilman from Wolves and now the ex-Nice defender will likely become his centre-back partner.

The deal for the former Barcelona man shows off the work of Tim Steidten with an initial loan being a massive positive for the Hammers.

From a PSR perspective, the fee for the defender moves into the next financial year which is hugely positive.

The sell-on clause may prove to be a negative factor later down the line depending on how positive his spell in East London is.

There is plenty of excitement around Lopetegui’s side right now and with the signings coming in ahead of the season, there is good reason for that.

In other West Ham news, another Ligue 1 side are reportedly set to match the Hammers’ bid for one centre-back transfer.
