Niclas Fullkrug ready to jet to London amid advanced West Ham United transfer talks
If West Ham United can agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund for Niclas Fullkrug he will fly to Biggin Hill on Saturday 3 August by private jet, according to Sean Whetstone.
Whetstone reported via the West Ham Football X account (2 August) that the Hammers are continuing talks with the German giants to try and sign the 31-year-old international striker this summer.
Fullkrug had booked a private jet to fly to London on Thursday (1 August) but because the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement, the German international was unable to make the trip.
Reports suggest there is a gap between West Ham’s offer and Dortmund’s asking price, with the Irons’ latest bid thought to be in the region of £21million [Florian Plettenberg, 1 August].
Will Niclas Fullkrug exit Borussia Dortmund amid West Ham transfer rumours?
It seems as though all the foundations are in place for the Hammers to get this deal over the line quickly as Julen Lopetegui looks to address the striker problem that has plagued the Irons in recent seasons.
The forward is quite obviously eager to make the move to East London, but nothing will happen unless the Hammers and Dortmund can finally agree on a deal for the 31-year-old’s services.
Dortmund’s asking price is pretty steep for a player who is heading towards the twilight of his career, but it is also a drop in the ocean compared to the sort of money Aston Villa are looking for to sanction Jhon Duran’s exit [Fabrizio Romano, 25 July].
Maybe, for the sake of a few million pounds, the Hammers would be better sucking it up and matching the German club’s valuation just so they can get a deal river the line and put this transfer saga to bed once and for all.
If a fee can be agreed in the coming hours, the deal could be finalised and announced over the weekend once Fullkrug arrives in London.
