Niclas Fullkrug January transfer exit update shared at West Ham United

West Ham currently have no plans to get rid of Niclas Fullkrug ahead of the January transfer window, according to Suddeutsche Zeitung.

The German outlet reported [12 November] that the Hammers are backing their new striker signing despite only making four appearances in all competitions since arriving on a £27million last summer [BBC Sport].

Fullkrug has been sidelined since September, having sustained an Achilles tendon injury during the September international break, with frustrations growing among the fanbase since.

West Ham United to stick or twist with Niclas Fullkrug?

The 31-year-old was certainly an interesting choice from Tim Steidten during the summer transfer window, but it was clear that a new striker was needed at the London Stadium.

The Hammers have been subjected to some awful striker transfers over the years, with fans cringing at some of the names who have walked through the doors in East London.

While it seems far too early to judge Fullkrug, given his recent seasons in the Bundesliga before moving to the Premier League, fans have every right to be frustrated with the current situation.

Injuries are just part of the game but the constant negative updates on the forward have only added frustration to Julen Lopetegui’s reign, with his injury timeline only extending.

The main frustration comes from the fact that the Hammers were close to signing Aston Villa star Jhon Duran, who has hit the ground running this season at Villa Park. Fans feel like they’ve missed out.

Instead, the Hammers have Michail Antonio and Danny Ings at their disposal, two strikers who have scored a total of two goals in all competitions so far this season.

Many are already calling for a brand-new striker to be bought ahead of the January transfer window, with PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani the latest transfer link [TBR Football], but it looks as though Fullkrug has all faith for now.

In other West Ham news, David Sullivan has made a new Graham Potter to London Stadium decision amid growing pressure on Julen Lopetegui.
