Ngal’ayel Mukau transfer on cards as West Ham offensive mooted

West Ham United could quickly launch an “offensive” for Ngal’ayel Mukau at Lille, according to Africa Foot.

The outlet reported via their website on 28 November that Irons’ Premier League rivals, Brighton and Crystal Palace, as well as Napoli, may also make a move for the midfielder.

Mukau, though, is focused on continuing his development at the Ligue 1 club for the time being.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular for Lille since joining them from KV Mechelen for £4.6million in the summer [L’Equipe via Get French Football News], making 13 appearances across all competitions.

Mukau grabbed headlines after netting twice in Les Douges’ 2-1 victory over Bologna in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday [27 November] and appears to be quickly attracting interest from clubs across Europe.

West Ham are currently stacked in midfield, with Tomas Soucke, Guido Rodriguez, Edson Alvarez and Carlos Soler in their ranks.

However, the Hammers are prepared to offload Rodriguez despite only signing him in the summer [InfoRealBetis], while Soler’s loan deal expires at the end of the season.

With Soucek often playing in an advanced role under Lopetegui, it would make sense for the East London outfit to sign a younger defensive-minded midfielder like Mukau.

The Irons have not had a Congo international in their ranks since Arthur Masuaku left last year, although Makau could form a bond with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has Congolese ties.

In other West Ham news, this Irons fan favourite is lined up for an exit within weeks.
