Newcastle United twist emerges in West Ham United bid to sign Alex Scott from Bristol City
West Ham United have been joined by Newcastle United in the race to sign Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, according to the Sunday People.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on Sunday (26 February, page 61) that Scott, 19, is “regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the country” and is also wanted by Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Tottenham and Wolves.
It is understood that the Hammers have watched Scott, who’s a “versatile emerging star” and is “ready-made for the Premier League”.

He ticks all of Newcastle’s boxes as they search for more additions in the summer transfer window with Bristol City bracing themselves for offers for the teenager at the end of this season.
Unlikely
Due to all the interest in Scott, it’s unlikely that West Ham will be able to sign the Guernsey-born England Under-20 international.
He’s been an ever-present for Bristol City in the Championship, already playing 73 times in England’s second tier for the Robins.

This season, Scott has played 38 times across all competitions for Bristol City, scoring one goal – which came against West Brom in the FA Cup this month – and supplying five assists.’
Scott is a versatile midfielder who’s played in a number of roles at Ashton Gate this season.
Usually, he’s a central midfielder but he’s also been deployed in defensive and attacking roles while he’s also featured on the right wing for Nigel Pearson’s side.
According to the Bristol Post on 26 February, Scott has been compared to Manchester City’s Jack Grealish due to modelling his game on the England international. It’s earnt himself the nickname of “Guernsey Grealish”.
If West Ham go down, there’s no chance of signing Scott.
If we stay up, we might be able to land him but beating the likes of Newcastle and Spurs to the signing of the England youth international seems very difficult given our current issues.
