West Ham stars Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus could be subject to potential transfer bids from Newcastle United before 30 August, according to i news.

It is reported on 5 August that if Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon makes a "huge" profitable move to Liverpool, the Magpies could renew their interest in either Bowen or Kudus this summer.

Bowen in particular has been the subject of significant speculation surrounding a switch to the North East, but so far in this transfer window the Irons have made clear they'll reject any approaches made [Sean Whetstone, 10 July].

Any Liverpool move for Gordon is likely to cost close to the £100million mark this summer, and that's not far off the fee the Hammers would demand Newcastle pay in return for Bowen [Northern Echo, 10 July].

West Ham could still lose Jarrod Bowen or Mohammed Kudus

Although Gordon moving to Liverpool from Newcastle may go off without a hitch from a West Ham perspective, it could also set off a chain reaction in which the Irons could be swept up.

While Bowen and Kudus have established themselves as two of the best wingers in the Premier League, new head coach Julen Lopetegui has brought in two more for big money so far this summer.

Luis Guilherme and Crysencio Summerville have cost close to £50m combined, with the latter being the Hammers' latest signing, and both will want to stake their places in Lopetegui's first-choice side.

With that quartet, plus Lucas Paqueta (for the time being at least) all vying for a place in the team, it will be interesting to see how Lopetegui's side lines up on 17 August – as five does not fit into three.

Their places possibly being under threat could push Bowen or Kudus towards the exit door and potentially a move to Newcastle, but for now, the Irons will do all they can to keep hold of their star duo.
