Nathan Trott signs contract to leave West Ham United after Saturday development

West Ham goalkeeper Nathan Trott has completed his medical and signed a four-year contract ahead of a move to FCK Copenhagen, according to Tipsbladet.

The Danish publication reported on 22 June that the 25-year-old keeper, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Vejle Boldklub, passed his medical on Saturday 22 June and will complete his transfer imminently.

Copenhagen have been monitoring the Bermuda-born stopper for some time and first approached the Hammers over a transfer in May, with the Irons set to earn £1.25million plus £450,000 in potential bonuses.

Nathan Trott never got a chance at West Ham United

Trott was always expected to complete a transfer away from the London Stadium this summer, having made just one first-team appearance for the Irons more than three years ago.

Being so far down the pecking order of goalkeepers and having two successful back-to-back spells with Vejle means staying in Denmark makes sense, and in that regard, there’s no higher step than fighting for the number one spot at Copenhagen [TEAMtalk].

While Trott may have hoped that his Vejle form could have earned him a place in the Irons’ Premier League squad next season, particularly with Lukasz Fabianski coming towards the end of his career.

However, that prospect has been quashed with the imminent arrival of Wes Foderingham from Sheffield United, leaving Trott’s departure from East London inevitable [Fabrizio Romano, 20 June].

West Ham are expected to sign Wes Foderingham this summer.

The 25-year-old has found his feet in Denmark though, and having surrendered their league title to FC Midtjylland last season, Copenhagen will be hoping that Trott can bring his Vejle performances to the capital.
