Mohammed Kudus wants to quit West Ham United despite miracle

Mohammed Kudus is “looking for an exit” from West Ham due to his wishes to play at a higher level, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The journalist reported for Sky Sports Switzerland (18 November) that under the current hierarchy and Julen Lopetegui, success is a “miracle”, and having achieved this, Kudus is now keen to move on.

The Ghanaian international, currently on the sidelines and serving a five-game ban, retains an ambition to play at the highest level and as such has attracted the attention of both Arsenal and Liverpool.

Kudus has been told by the Hammers that he won’t be sold for less than his £85million release clause, and at present, neither Arsenal nor Liverpool are willing to pay such an amount following initial inquiries.

Mohammed Kudus exit looks inevitable at West Ham United

Had Kudus actively pushed for a departure from East London in the summer, it would have made much more sense, coming off the back of the Ghanaian’s superb 14-goal debut season with the Hammers.

This term, however, Kudus has been a shadow of his former self, scoring just two goals in a season marred by indiscipline and vast underperformance for both club and country.

Kudus receiving a straight red card and three-match ban – later extended to five – against Tottenham last month was the clearest sign yet that all is not well in terms of squad harmony at the London Stadium.

Adding to his indisciplined displays on the club scene, Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will have only added to Kudus’ frustrations as his start to the season goes from bad to worse.

While he’s likely to be brought straight back into Lopetegui’s team once available for selection again, Kudus will – for the time being at least – have to bide his time and show the biggest clubs in Europe that he’s worth his £85m price tag.
