Mohammed Kudus release clause update drops amid West Ham United transfer exit links

West Ham United will reject all offers for Mohammed Kudus this summer after his release clause expired, according to Sean Whetstone.

Writing on his personal X account (2 July), the Hammers journalist reports that the Ghana star had an £85million release clause which expired on midnight on July 1st.

That has now expired however, and will not become active again until next summer, giving the Irons full control over his future and they have got no intention of allowing him to move on this summer regardless of any offers or interest they receive.

West Ham United will not sell Mohammed Kudus

It was well known that Lucas Paqueta has an £85million release clause in his contract that Manchester City were going to trigger [HITC, 24 May], only for his betting charges to come to light.

But there were rumours about Kudus’ future and contract, but nothing was confirmed and the people close to any potential deal were tight-lipped about if something similar existed for the ex-Ajax man [Athletic, 21 May].

Saudi clubs are reported to have shown interest [ESPN, 20 June], while Liverpool are also known to be admirers, but the Hammers now have great leverage in any potential deal and they’ve made it clear they won’t entertain an exit.

With Paqueta’s future up in the air, Julen Lopetegui will be keen to keep hold of his star attackers in Kudus and Jarrod Bowen.

Anyone who wanted Kudus has missed their chance for a bargain now, and Kudus will be wearing claret and blue in the 2024/25 campaign.

In other West Ham news, Tottenham want to sign a Premier League defender the Hammers have already held talks for.
