Michail Antonio makes admission over West Ham United future amid Saudi Pro League transfer links

West Ham United striker Michail Antonio has admitted he doesn’t know whether he we be sold during the summer transfer window.

The Jamaican international has been a regular under David Moyes at the London Stadium, but reports suggest that clubs both in the MLS and Saudi Pro League are interested in securing his signature at the end of the season [The Athletic, 15 May].

While the 34-year-old insists that he is happy in East London, he has also admitted that he could depart if the Hammers receive the right offer and want to go in a new direction.

Speaking on The High Performance Podcast (15 May) he said: “I don’t know, I honestly couldn’t tell you. One thing with football anything could happen.

“Am I ready for a new challenge? I’m happy to be fair, I’m happy at West Ham it’s just all down to whether the club want to try something new or if the club get a good enough offer and want to let me go.”

Will Michail Antonio leave West Ham United during the summer transfer window?

There hasn’t been a summer that has gone by without speculation emerging over Antonio’s future. Each and every year, the Irons appear to be in the market for a new number nine and are therefore open to letting him leave.

However, no such move ever actually comes to fruition and even when West Ham have bought new centre-forwards like Gianluca Scammaca, the Jamaican international has managed to keep them out of the starting XI.

That could well remain the case this summer, but with Julen Lopetegui appearing set to take over the reins from David Moyes, the former Real Madrid boss will likely be keen to put his own stamp on the playing squad.

Whether or not that means the Irons will be looking to move Antonio on remains to be seen. However, it is clear from the 34-year-old’s comments he isn’t exactly in any rush to push for the exit door despite mounting speculation.
