Maxwell Cornet has said his goodbyes ahead of leaving West Ham United, according to ExWHUEmployee.
The Hammers news sources reported via X (30 August) that there has been a late move for the forward by a couple of clubs, including Crystal Palace.
However, Cornet looks set to join Southampton. The 27-year-old said his West Ham goodbyes on Friday morning (30 August).
West Ham United forward Maxwell Cornet set to quit the London Stadium
It has never quite worked out for Cornet since his move from Burnley to the Hammers.
He has always been something of a fringe player, never able to make a serious impact on the first-team under David Moyes.
Following the arrival of Julen Lopetegui, he might have had hopes of a fresh start under a new manager at the London Stadium. However, it appears as if that won’t be the case.
Luckily for Cornet it looks as though he will still be playing Premier League football next season, with a move to Southampton on the cards.
And considering the Saints are a newly-promoted side, he is more likely to get opportunities with the club. Therefore, this is a move which makes sense for all parties involved, and there will be hop that a deal can be finalised before 11 pm on Friday.
It looks set to be a busy day at the London Stadium, with James Ward-Prowse on his way out of the club (via Fabrizio Romano, 30 August), and Carlos Soler headed to London (via Fabrizio Romano, 30 August).
In other West Ham news, one player is yet to give his green light ahead of a deadline day exit.
