Mateus Fernandes: West Ham exit takes potential twist as Man United bid imminent
Mateus Fernandes looks likely to leave West Ham United this summer, amid interest from several top-flight clubs.
And he's unlikely to be the only one who has his sights set on an exit from the London Stadium, with many others also linked with departures.
Jarrod Bowen, Taty Castellanos and Crysencio Summerville are also among the names to have been linked with moves away from the Hammers.
With that said, it is certainly the future of Fernandes that has sparked the most intrigue, with clubs such as Real Madrid and Man United mooted with an interest.
The Hammers are believed to value the Pourtguese midfielder in the region of £80million, which would make him their second-biggest sale ever, behind Declan Rice.
However, if that is to be the case, Real Madrid may have a free run at the former Southampton star as per the latest reports from Manchester.
Man United ready bid for new midfield addition
The Red Devils are already said to be closing in on the signing of Ederson, who is likely to be the replacement for Casemiro who will leave when his contract expires at the end of the month.
However, they remain in the market for at least one more midfield arrival, which may now be in the form of Mamadou Sangare
As per Sebastien Denis, the Old Trafford outfit are said to be preparing a bid around £35m for the Lens star,
Should that prove true, it would be difficult to see them making any offer for Fernandes, given that he would be their second midfield addition of the summer already.
And depending on interest elsewhere, that may impact Fernandes' next move.
Where is Fernandes likely to go this summer?
West Ham will maintain hope, albeit slim hope, that they can convince Fernandes to stay for one more season to get them back into the Premier League
However, the chances of that happening are bleak.
An exit is almost certain in the coming months, and as of now, Real Madrid seems the most likely destination.
Jose Mourinho is said to have made his signing a priority, though the validity of that will be tested ahead of the new campaign.
