Marseille want to sign West Ham United ace Said Benrahma with ‘favourable’ deal on the cards

Marseille are looking into a deal to sign West Ham ace Said Benrahma in the January transfer window to improve their bid for Champions League football, according to Jonathan Johnson.

The French football expert reported via Sky Sports’ transfer blog [17 January, 12:53] that Benrahma is not sure of his future at the London Stadium and is the right profile for Marseille.

However, any deal would depend on whether the deal is favourable to the French outfit and whether they can come to an agreement that works for them financially.

A long line following him

It looks inevitable that Benrahma will quit the London Stadium this month, with several clubs including Lyon, Wolves and Brentford reportedly interested in his signature, and a deal looks likely to be done before the deadline on 31 January.

Still, no further clarity has been provided as to how the transfer window will play out in East London, with that clarity to arrive towards the end of the window, but Benrahma’s situation is certainly one to watch.

The Algerian winger has lost his starting place under Moyes, with Kudus, Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta the first-choice trio in the attacking positions, and has been frustrated by a lack of game time and below-par performances so far this season, culminating in his sending off against Bristol City.

West Ham’s ongoing injury crisis in attacking areas cast doubt over the potential of letting one of their depth options leave the club, but the return of Jarrod Bowen and Benrahma’s displays mean he could be on the chopping block.
