Marseille consider Elye Wahi sale amid £21m West Ham United transfer update
Marseille will only consider a permanent exit for Elye Wahi amid interest from West Ham, according to Ben Jacobs.
The reliable journalist reported via his personal X account [13 January] that the Ligue 1 side would be seeking a similar deal to his move from Lens – £16.8million (20million) plus £4.2million (5million)
It is understood that the Hammers have not yet made an official bid for the 22-year-old striker, who is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League [L’Equipe].
While the France Under-21s forward has only notched three goals in 14 appearances since moving to Marseille, he was awarded Ligue 1 Goal of the Year in the 2022/23 campaign.
West Ham United to solve striker crisis with Elye Wahi transfer?
Graham Potter was already without Michail Antonio, who is recovering from a horrifying car accident, with Niclas Fullkrug now back on the treatment table after suffering a new injury against Aston Villa.
The injury-prone striker already missed multiple weeks earlier this season after picking up an issue on international duty, and is now being sidelined for another three months [Jack Rosser].
Supporters were absolutely crushed to see him go down once again, with the German finally looking settled in the team.
While Danny Ings is still at the London Stadium, he has rarely featured over the past couple of seasons and that looks to be continuing under Potter, or at least it was until Fullkrug’s setback.

The Hammers are in desperate need of a new striker, and while Wahi comes with his controversial past, Potter’s side could still be looking to bring him to the Premier League this month.
He was far more prolific during his spells with Montpellier and Lens, seeing a drop in form since joining Marseille, but Potter’s influence could be exactly what he needs to find his feet again.
