Marcus Rashford transfer: West Ham in talks with Man United to strike deal

West Ham have shown an interest in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford with talks underway internally to decipher whether it’s a realistic pursuit, according to Luke Edwards.

Writing via The Telegraph‘s online edition [13 January], Edwards reports that the Irons are keen on a loan deal for Rashford but are unsure as to how much of his wages they are willing to cover.

The recent injury sustained by Niclas Fullkrug has seen the Hammers ramp up their efforts to sign a forward but a move for the England international seems unlikely, with it claimed he would have doubts about a switch to East London.

However, the report adds that the Hammers have been asked to stay in the loop with regards to Rashford, who may see a move to the London Stadium more of a necessity the longer the window goes on.

West Ham must persist with Marcus Rashford interest

Although Rashford has struggled for minutes and form this season, his talent has been on show throughout several seasons at Old Trafford, with the international stage also providing promise at times.

A fresh move may be just what he needs and the chance to rejuvenate his career at West Ham could suit both him and the Irons if a suitable deal was to be reached.

His ability to play wide left or centrally would give Graham Potter several options in terms of picking his side and his experience of performing at the highest level is something that has been missing at the London Stadium.

Wage contribution could provide the biggest barrier in the deal, with Manchester United and West Ham likely to be miles apart in their desires, but as the window goes on, those demands may be reduced.

Rashford simply needs a place where he can play regular football and West Ham would certainly be able to offer him that.
