Marcus Rashford complication arises in £50m West Ham transfer saga

Published on

Marcus Rashford is reportedly complicating a possible West Ham United exit for Crysencio Summerville.

Summerville is widely expected to leave the London Stadium this summer following the Hammers' relegation from the Premier League.

The only real question is where the winger ends up, with numerous other top-flight clubs also being linked.

Man United are said to hold an interest in signing Summerville, who could land West Ham a profit.

However, a move to Old Trafford is being delayed for now due to Rashford's own uncertain future.

And with West Ham needing to sell before they can buy, it is far from an ideal situation.

The Red Devils are also showing an interest in Mateus Fernandes and are said to be favourites for his signature.

That could lead to a double raid on West Ham, but any move for Summerville is being delayed for now.

As per a report from the Daily Mail on Tuesday, United's interest in Summerville has been "complicated" by Rashford.

Rashford is due back at Carrington after England's World Cup campaign, with Barcelona deciding against triggering the right to make his loan permanent.

United still want to remove his big wages off their books in order to bring in another player, such as Summerville.

The situation regarding Fernandes is different, with a replacement for Casemiro being needed regardless of who else moves on.

How much do West Ham want for Summerville?

Summerville scored five goals and assisted two more in 31 Premier League appearances last season

That is a decent return for a team that struggled throughout the campaign, but it is hardly emphatic.

Despite that, West Ham are said to be holding out for £50million for Summerville.

Given he is impressing for the Netherlands at the World Cup, that fee may well be justified in a few weeks' time.

A player is only worth as much as a team is willing to pay for them, of course, so it will be interesting to see if any bids in that region are lodged.
