Manchester United bank on West Ham United deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka after Inter update
Manchester United are hoping that Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s move to West Ham can be resurrected after a deal to send him to Inter failed to reach an advanced stage, says Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist told Angus Scott on The Debrief for Caught Offside on 29 July that the defender is “100 per cent a candidate for sale” and the Old Trafford side hope he can “reactivate the option” with the Irons.
Wan-Bissaka wanted to go to Inter in a swap for Denzel Dumfries but that appears to be off the table as Manchester United now have agreements in place to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, after the Moroccan rejected a move to the London Stadium, so they want to offload him to the Hammers.
Romano said (5m 10s): “The deal is ready, but it depends on Wan-Bissaka. They want to find a solution for Wan-Bissaka as soon as possible, and it could be West Ham. Let’s see what the player decides.”
West Ham could land Old Trafford ace in Noussai Mazraoui triangle
It is starting to look like Wan-Bissaka has an Irons move or he stays at Old Trafford as a relatively-unwanted option and creates frustration over the Mazraoui pursuit.
They can’t force him to East London if he doesn’t want to go and Julen Lopetegui may be hesitant if it is clear that the 26-year-old isn’t committed to the deal.
He is said to want to return to the capital after previously playing at Crystal Palace [Stretty News, 12 July] and if the Inter option if off the table he could now be open to moving south.
Kyle Walker-Peters is the other primary option for Lopetegui and Tim Steidten [Dharmesh Sheth, 20 July] but negotiations with Southampton appear to have gone nowhere for some time, even after a deal was struck to sell Flynn Downes to the Saints.

The entire pursuit of a new right-back has been a frustrating one and the twists that saw a move for Mazraoui emerge and then fall through only added to that.
But if it ultimately helps push through Wan-Bissaka’s move to the London Stadium then it might prove to be a necessary evil.
