Manchester United want West Ham United Aaron Wan-Bissaka transfer despite Denzel Dumfries news
Manchester United want to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham United rather than complete a swap deal for Denzel Dumfries, according to David Ornstein.
The Atheltic journalist reported via X on Tuesday (6 August) that the Inter Milan defender is keen on a move to Old Trafford, but that can only happen if Wan-Bissaka rejects a switch to the London Stadium.
Dumfries isn’t open to extending his contract with the European giant until after the transfer window closes, but United would rather complete a deal with the Irons and sign Bayern Munich defender Noussair Mazraoui.
Will Aaron Wan-Bissaka exit Manchester United amid West Ham United transfer rumours?
This news will have been welcomed by West Ham supporters as Ornstein’s update suggests that the Irons’ chances of landing a deal for Wan-Bissaka remain high despite the fact that Dumfries has now emerged as an option.
Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have already been incredibly active in the transfer market so far, but the one thing they haven’t been able to do is bolster the fullback options and provide Vladimir Coufal with some competition.
The Czech international is still an incredibly reliable defender who gives his all week in and week out, but with Ben Johnson leaving for Ipswich Town, no one is challenging him for a place in the starting XI week in and week out.
Wan-Bissaka can change that. While the former Crystal Palace man isn’t the most polished defender with the ball at his feet, he is one of the division’s best when it comes to working out of possession.
Hopefully, a deal will be completed sooner rather than later. Once Wan-Bissaka is over the line, the Hammers won’t have much more to worry about between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
