West Ham remain interested in Harry Maguire ahead of the summer transfer window but Manchester United are unlikely to sell the defender, sources have told GiveMeSport.

The online source reported [19 March] that the Hammers have retained an interest in Maguire, targeting a £15million move for the England international.

It is understood, however, that the Red Devils are "not actively looking" to offload their centre-back, and would require a much more significant fee to entertain the idea of selling him.

Would David Moyes be interested in adding Harry Maguire to his West Ham United squad?

Many members of David Moyes' defence have come under fire this season, especially since the start of 2024, with the manager also under pressure for recent performances.

At the forefront of this has been the club captain, Kurt Zouma, who has been hammered for some of his displays. The addition of Maguire could add a much-needed leader to the backline.

The 31-year-old has overcome his fair share of criticism at Old Trafford, making his comeback to the starting XI all the more impressive, while he is also tipped to lead England at Euro 2024.

Despite currently sitting in seventh in the Premier League, only six teams have conceded more goals than the Hammers this season, suggesting that West Ham are crying out for a new defender during the summer transfer window.

Harry Maguire could be a potential centre-back option for West Ham United in the summer

Moyes is very clear when it comes to the type of players he wants, with Premier League experience being a key aspect of a player's CV, which Maguire has an abundance of.

The centre-half is just one short of 200 appearances for Man United since signing from Leicester City on a world-record £80million deal, as per BBC Sport. Although his career has stalled somewhat over the years, a move to the London Stadium could help revive it.
