Manchester United to compromise on Aaron Wan-Bissaka fee for West Ham United transfer
West Ham and Manchester United are expected to reach a compromise on the fee involved in a deal to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Dharmesh Sheth reports.
According to the Sky Sports journalist via X on 31 July there is “a degree of confidence” that the two sides can find an agreement on the price of the right-back.
Sky Sports had reported live earlier the same morning that the fee was one of the aspects still to sort with “many aspects” already dealt with in principle.
It had been reported by talkSPORT on 29 July (7.04pm) that the Irons wanted to pay £10million while £17.5million was wanted at Old Trafford.
West Ham set to land defender for Julen Lopetegui
Wan-Bissaka is widely regarded as an excellent defender but when it is also clear that he needs to be moved on for Noussair Mazraoui to come in [Fabrizio Romano, 29 July] it weakens the negotiating position in Manchester.
The Englishman is also into the final 12 months of his contract and INEOS had no plans to extend his deal [Sheth, 2 July] so the arguments appear to fall in favour of the Irons getting a discount on the asking price.
The deal finally looks to be nearing a conclusion which will be a relief to all involved when most of the recent pursuits by Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui have become bogged down.
That seems to so often be the case with transfers at the London Stadium so the relatively-sudden capture of Max Kilman came as a welcome surprise.
But with a striker badly needed and Jhon Duran still at Aston Villa the pressure is on to get the side ready for the start of the new season.
Lopetegui clearly wants a new central midfielder as well but the club has been left disappointed in their attempts to make N’Golo Kanté or Youssouf Fofana that man as neither will now be on the way to East London.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are set to abandon another transfer pursuit over an eight-figure asking price.
