Manchester United price emerges for Scott McTominay as West Ham United transfer mooted

Manchester United will demand in excess of the £30million they rejected from West Ham for Scott McTominay this summer, according to iNews.

Writing on their website (18 July), the news outlet report that the Scotland international is available for transfer and attracting interest from the Hammers once again after they had a £30million bid rejected last summer.

Fulham had a £17million bid rejected this summer for the 27-year-old [Sky Sports, 17 July] and it has now emerged that the Red Devils will want a similar amount to what they expected last summer to part ways with the midfielder.

West Ham to push for Scott McTominay transfer?

Julen Lopetegui is keen to push for several additions to his squad during the summer transfer window, with midfield an area that needs bolstering.

There are several attackers how have been linked with moves to the London Stadium including the likes of Karim Adeyemi [HITC, 16 July] and Steven Bergwijn [Telegraaf, 13 July], while defenders have been linked strongly too with Aaron Wan-Bissaka [TEAMtalk, 18 July] and Kyle Walker-Peters [Sky Sports, 15 July].

But in midfield the links have been quite scarce, despite Kalvin Phillips moving on after his loan ended and Flynn Downes moving to Southampton permanently in an £18million deal.

McTominay has got plenty of first-team experience at the very highest level, can play in a box-to-box role and would be an improvement on current options like Tomas Soucek, having been described as “absolutely brilliant” by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the past.

But Manchester United want a big fee to let him go, and the Hammers can’t splash out if there are better options out there. Tim Steidten must take a close look, but McTominay would be a solid addition.

In other West Ham news, the club have made an approach for a brand new attacker transfer.
