Manchester United beat West Ham United to new signing as he’s spotted at Hotel Football

James Overy has chosen a move to Manchester United over West Ham and Everton, according to Alan Nixon.

Writing via his Patreon, ReluctantNicko (31 May), the journalist revealed that Manchester United have won the race for the Australian teenage star.

The Perth Glory player has been offered a three-year deal with United set to compensate his club under FIFA transfer rules.

Overy was given the “VIP treatment” during his stay in Manchester, where he was spotted at Hotel Football.

Julen Lopetegui set to miss out on another West Ham target

It hasn’t been the best of starts to the transfer window for the Hammers.

While missing out on Overy isn’t their most pressing concern, it is yet another signing they have failed to make.

Losing out on the 16-year-old will mean very little in the short term, but it could come back to bite them in the long term.

Competing with Manchester United to sign a player – especially a young player – is very difficult.

Therefore, supporters at the London Stadium shouldn’t feel too disheartened.

However, Julen Lopetegui will be concerned this is becoming something of a habit.

The Hammers also saw their pursuit of Fabricio Bruno fall apart recently.

Lopetegui will hope that missing out on transfer targets isn’t a common occurrence during his time with the club.

Otherwise, the manager could soon become unhappy in East London.

West Ham will need to make some signings sooner rather than later.
