Manchester United and Tottenham enter race to sign West Ham United target Max Kilman

Manchester United and Totteham are also interested in signing West Ham target Max Kilman from Wolves, according to GiveMeSport.

Writing on their website (20 June), the news outlet reports that the Wolves skipper has emerged as a target for the Red Devils after their negotiations with Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite stalled.

Wolves are expected to hold out for around £45million to sell Kilman, and his side are braced for bids during the window, with a move to the London Stadium not being ruled out despite interest from elsewhere with the Hammers making contact already [Fabrizio Romano, 18 June].

West Ham United must move quickly to sign Max Kilman

Signing Kilman was never going to be an easy task for the Hammers, but it’s surely even more difficult now with such competition.

Manchester United are keen on a centre-back and have cash to splash, while Spurs will be playing Europa League football in 2024/25 while West Ham can only offer domestic football.

But with Lopetegui in the dugout, the club will have a slight advantage in talks with the player, considering they worked together at Molineux and had a great relationship.

However, any hope the club had of driving that £45million price tag down is likely to have taken a hit considering the added interest in a deal and now it’s a decision for the board to make.

A new defender is a necessity with Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd’s futures in the air [Hakim Zhouri, 11 May], so the sooner they decide to pay up or move on the better for everyone involved.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to sign a £25m striker with 52 goals in the last two seasons.
