Manchester City stance emerges on West Ham United star Lucas Paqueta transfer amid FA charges
Manchester City have informed Lucas Paqueta that they will not try to sign him from West Ham this summer after he was charged with betting offences, according to HITC.
Writing on their website (24 May), the news outlet report that the Brazil playmaker has been told the Cityzens have withdrawn their interest after he was charged with intentionally being booked on four separate occasions.
City wanted to sign Paqueta last summer but saw a deal collapse when it was announced he would be investigated for these charges, and now that they have been confirmed Pep Guardiola will look at alternative options to strengthen his midfield options this summer.
West Ham must keep looking for Lucas Paqueta replacements
Whether Paqueta is on the books at the London Stadium next season or not, Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui have to find a way to replace him for next season.
If he leaves for another club, with PSG linked with a move too, then the need to replace him is obvious. But they face arguably an even tougher task of replacing him due to him being suspended, meaning they won’t have the cash to replace him from an outgoing transfer.
It makes the summer business at the club incredibly difficult, and while no Hammers fans wanted to see him leave this summer this is not the way they wanted it to occur.

Now the team will have to be without him regardless if the charges are proven, which it seems unlikely they won’t be since he has been charged.
But he won’t be heading to the league champions in the blue side of Manchester anymore despite what was expected.
